hana Good day Ningin-ers ! This past few days I’ve been posting voices about Drama Reviews , right? Today , let’s have a Movie Review. ‘200 Pounds Beauty’ , one of my favorite movies , starring mainly Kim Ah Jung (Kang Han Na/Jenny) and Ju jin-mo (Sang-jun). The drama was a hit on 2006. The movie tells the story of Han Na , an overweight girl who is the ‘ghost singer’ of Ammy , a famous pop singer who actually lip syncs. Despite of her ‘weight’ and Ammy’s humiliations, Sang-jun , the director of the music company and Han Na’s ‘crush’, always cheers her up. But one day , while crying in the bathroom she heard Ammy and Sang-jun’s conversation where Sang-jun said that he’s only good to Han Na so that she will not resign on the company.After hearing that from Sang-jun , Han Na was really hurt and she decided to have a ‘ head-to-toe plastic surgery’. After the surgery , Han Na had become beautiful and slender . No one even recognizes her , even her best friend, Chungmin. Chungmin helps her to create a ‘new identity’. She auditioned as Ammy’s ‘ghost singer’ but earned her own recording contract on the company. She was known as “Jenny”, a Korean-American who came from California. Jenny become so popular and Ammy was not happy with that. She did everything to ruin Jenny’s singing career. In the other hand , Sang-jun , not knowing that Jenny was really Kang Han Na , started to have feelings for her , as well as Jenny to him. Later on , Sang-jun discovered the true identity of Jenny and become distant to her but Sang-jun decided to continue Jenny’s concert even though his father disagreed. During the concert , Jenny decided to tell the truth to her fans . The fans were shock on hearing that Jenny was not really Jenny but was really Han Na , an overweight girl who has a talent in singing.
This was really one of my all-time favorite movies ! This movie made me cry , fall in love and laugh out loud . Really a ‘must-see’ movie . Below is the OST of the movie entitled “Maria” sung by Kim Ah Jung , really love this song. Hope you like it guys ! ^^

I absolute love this movie and watched it several times already. The storyline is great and it talks about plastic surgery. Thanks for sharing your reviews.

this was my first korean movie ever XD i liked it ^^ but yeah sucks that she hated her appearance to the point of undergoing surgery. oh and i like the song ‘maria’ :D


Man, I remember that movie. It was really good (and funny at points, too). Sad how society makes some people think taht they’re not good enough because of their weight…


i ahvent watch this yet, looks interesting :D


yeah it’s not that you have to change yourself physically for someone you love~ maybe it’s nice if they did makeover for her in terms of makeup and accesorries - just my two cents~ But this movie is really sad when it comes to the part of the guy hurting her. I’ve always liked the saddest parts of a movie.

I actually was not fond of this movie because the message that I took from it (based on English subtitles) is that you’re not happy unless you’re accepted by everyone. I hated that she had to change herself physically to actually find love.
