“Sehun, how do you ride a bus?” you asked curiously as the two of you sat on the bus stop bench, waiting for the other EXO members to catch up with the two of you.
“You haven’t ridden a bus, before?” Sehun asked with raised eyebrows and brief expression of surprise.
You shook your head. “I know what it looks like, and what it’s used for, but I don’t know anything else besides that. When we did our missions we always rode in the cars they prepared for us.”
“Hm, well, stick close to me the entire day, okay?” Sehun grinned as he clasped his hand around yours. “The whole day, we have to be like this, alright? You can’t let go, or else other people will swallow you up.”
You nodded, and squeezed his hand gently as confirmation.
The rest of the members appeared besides the two of you, and Chanyeol went over to flick Sehun against his forehead. “Brat, you were supposed to wait for us.”
Sehun grinned in reply and stuck out his tongue.
“Hanmi! Why are you holding Sehun’s hand?!” Chanyeol exclaimed, pointing at the pair of intertwined fingers.
“Sehun said that if I don’t want to get lost, I have to do that with him for every second,” you explained, trying to put it in good words for Sehun.
“Yah! You sly maknae, don’t take advantage of Mei Mei’s innocence,” Tao snapped, sitting down on the other side of you. “Mei Mei, you don’t have to hold his hand like that.”
“But what if I get lost?” you pouted, not at all liking the idea. “I don’t want to get lost on my first shopping trip.”
“Yeah, Tao, she doesn’t want to get lost,” Sehun replied, sticking his tongue out at him this time.
“Tao, what does Mei Mei mean?” you asked, tilting your head to signal your confusion.
“Mei Mei means little sister in Chinese. Mei Mei, you also don’t have to call Sehun Oppa like he was trying to get you to do before You, me, Sehun, and Kai are all the same age!” Tao added, shooting Sehun a look.
“If that’s the case, then you don’t get to call Hanmi Mei Mei!” Sehun snapped in return.
“The bus is here, brats,” Chanyeol sighed, in attempt to stop the pair’s bickering. When the two maknaes failed to stop, Chanyeol let out another sigh before boarding the bus with Kai shortly behind him.
With excitement, you hopped off the bench and began to move towards the bus, but was forced to a halt when a hand tugged you back. You glanced back only to receive a loud “tsk” sound, courtesy of Sehun. You looked at him questioningly, and he held out his hand to you.
“What did I say, Hanmi? I don’t want to have to go through the burden of having to find you when you get lost,” Sehun warned.
“But it’s just on the bus,” you replied, pointing at the concealed structure. “I can’t get lost in there.”
Sehun didn’t reply, and merely shook his hand out stubbornly. You sighed before enveloping his hand into yours to drag him to the bus. “Sehunnie, what is Baekhyun doing?” you whispered to Sehun as you watched him scan a card into the slot. Sehun was so overjoyed with his new nickname that he completely disregarded the latter part of your question.
Baekhyun smiled back at you before turning back to the man to scan his card again. “This is for the Miss behind me, as well.” Baekhyun walked over to take a seat, and the bus driver waved you over to follow him. You trailed after the other, and hesitated for a few seconds when he sat down.
“Come sit next to me, Hanmi,” Baekhyun smiled, patting the seat beside him gently.
You nodded and happily took the spot next to him, with Chanyeol stealing the other spot next to you.
Sehun appeared at where you guys were stationed, and frowned when he saw that the spots next to you were taken. Kai , D.O, and Tao had already taken the spots across from you as well which left him no place in your little group cluster.
“Hyungs!” Sehun whined, looking at the 5 of them with pleading eyes.
“Huh, so now you call me Hyung,” Tao scoffed, turning his head to deny Sehun his seat.
“There are available spots over there, Sehunnie, hurry up and sit because you’re clogging the line!” Chanyeol barked happily at the maknae’s suffering. Sehun sat an aisle away from you all with a heavy pout on his face and you smiled apologetically at him.
Chanyeol wrapped an arm around your shoulders, much to Sehun’s displeasure, but you completely ignored it; already swallowed up in your excitement. You were dying to finally be able to not only wear, but buy, a dress. You weren’t much of a girly girl, but your entire life you had been restricted to wearing jeans only, seeing as how dresses and skirts wouldn’t be convenient when on the go. Being the only girl in the entire M.A.M.A clan wasn’t much help either. With that in consideration, it’d be nice to finally dress like a girl for a change.
You gazed out the window, excitedly taking in everything you passed. You had never really gotten to see the city, just glimpses of it while you were on missions and such. The rest of the boys smiled as they watched you with your hands pressed against the window in awe. Even Kai softened a little bit at the sight.
The bus ride passed much too fast for your liking, but you quickly got over it once you got a look at the world outside the bus windows. You and the boys stepped out of the bus, and your jaw dropped once you gazed at your surroundings.
“Come on, I know a good clothing store for females,” Chanyeol laughed as he took your hand, ignoring Sehun’s whines of protest. You trailed after him, wanting to walk even slower then you currently were to completely take in all the sights you were seeing.
“Can you walk faster?!” Kai snapped, annoyed at your slow walking speed since he was the unfortunate being stuck behind you.
You jumped at his voice, and immediately began to increase your steps; not daring to look around anymore just in case you unconsciously slowed down again.
“Kai!” Sehun exclaimed, jabbing Kai’s side with his elbow when you the expression you suddenly wore resembled one of a scolded puppy.
Kai didn’t say anything in reply, but he did feel a bit bad for reprimanding you. Why was it that you always made him feel guilty, no matter what you did?
The roads were incredibly crowded, and shoulders continuously bumped into you. You began to grow tired of apologizing for every time you bumped into someone, which was pretty much every step you took.
“Yah, Hyung! Can’t you see she’s getting beat up?!” Kai barked as he smacked Chanyeol on the back of his head. “Let her walk on the inside, idiot.”
Chanyeol glanced down at you in realization and quickly exchanged spots with you so that you were on the inner side of the walk way. “Sorry Hanmi.”
You shook your head and smiled up at him, “It’s fine.” You glanced over your shoulder and gave Kai a smile as well. “Thanks Kai!”
Kai scoffed and looked away, “I only said it because your apologies every goddamn second were getting annoying.”
“Here we are!” Chanyeol grinned, pulling you roughly into a boutique. You stumbled over your feet, but Baekhyun held onto your shoulders to prevent you from falling. “Yah, Chanyeol! Be careful.”
“Sorry Hanmi!” Chanyeol chimed again. “Hanmi, this is one of the most popular clothing stores for females here, so look for anything you want, okay? I’ll call over a worker so she can get your measurements.”
You nodded hesitantly, and waited awkwardly before a cheerful woman approached you. She had you hold out your arms while she took different measurements with a long ruler tape. You had to hold in your giggles, because to be quite honest the whole procedure was tickling the hell out of you.
“We’ll help you find some stuff!” Sehun cheered happily after the worker informed them of your size.
“Yeah right,” Kai scoffed. “I’m going to grab some coffee, I’ll meet up with you guys again later.”
After of few minutes of D.O awkwardly standing at the entrance way, he decided to go off to do his own thing as well.
As your browsed through the different racks of clothing, you suddenly felt like a lost puppy. You didn’t exactly know what to choose, but a quick glance at the others assured you that you had nothing to worry about. Sehun, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, and especially Tao were doing a great job finding clothes for you. Baekhyun seemed to scold everything Chanyeol picked out, however, muttering words like “Byuntae” and “Do you want her to get raped?!” as he shoved the pieces back onto their respective hangers.
You began to get a headache from looking at so many pieces of clothing. Maybe you wouldn’t like shopping after all. You glanced back at the other 4 who seemed completely engrossed in finding clothing for you. You could trust them to find in style clothing for you, so might as well not bother to look anymore.
The smell of so much clothing was suffocating, so you sat on the bench just outside of the shop to get a breath of fresh air. It was nice to have freedom.
Your heart panged with pain at the thought. Minhwa and Hyunseok Oppa would have wanted this freedom as well. This was what Minhwa was fighting for, and only you got to enjoy it all by yourself.
“Umma! Umma! Where are you?! Umma!” a voice cried suddenly, interrupting your thoughts. You turned to the source of the noise and found a young boy searching the streets with tears pouring down his cheeks. The shoppers ignored him, and walked by like they couldn’t see him.
“Y-Yah!” you exclaimed, running over to his side when he had been pushed to the ground by an uninterested shopper. You lifted him back onto his feet before bringing him over to the bench you had been sitting on. “You lost your Umma?”
“Noona!” the boy cried, wrapping his arms around your waist as he cried into your shirt.
“Don’t cry, what’s your name?” you asked, patting him soothingly on the head. “I’ll help you find your Umma for you.”
The crying boy looked up at you and stared silently for a few seconds, as if determining whether or not you were worthy of helping him. You were slightly taken aback at how intently he was looking at you, but he then smiled widely and wiped his tears away. “My name’s Kisook!”
“Let’s go find your Umma, okay?” you smiled as you took his hand into yours. You internally squealed at the action, this was the first time you had ever interacted with a child before.
He nodded with a grin. You quickly checked back into the store to call out to Chanyeol. “Channie, I’m going to help Kisook find his Umma, okay?”
Chanyeol nodded in reply as he continued to search through the clothing racks. “Be safe!”
“Kisookie, do you remember where you last saw your Umma?” you asked, looking down at the child.
Kisook nodded, and began to drag you away. “I remember.”
“Sookie-ah, how old are you?” you asked as he continued to lead you through the streams of shoppers.
“6,” Kisook replied with a shrug. You frowned at how uncute he was suddenly being. Was this how all children were?
“Kisook, we’ve been walking for a long time, are you sure your Umma’s over here?” you asked, watching as the number of shoppers began to dwindle down in size.
“I already told you she is! Are you going to help me find her or not?!” Kisook exclaimed back at you with an irritated expression.
You were taken aback at his sudden shout. You definitely didn’t want to interact with more kids if this was how they acted. Soon, all signs of shoppers disappeared along with the stores. Kisook continued to lead you into an abandoned looking area, and you definitely didn’t get a good feeling about the place. “Kisook, I think you’ve been mistaken. This is a dangerous place, let’s go back, okay?”
Kisook tore his hand away from yours and turned back to face you with a smirk on his face.
“No Noona, I’m afraid you’re the one who’s been mistaken.”
