Summary: Bak Hanmi had been raised since birth to become one of the top assassins, and was given the mission to seek and destroy 12 threats that possess special abilities. When the people she loves most are hurt, however, she finds herself abandoning her assassin lifestyle only to end up in an unexpected situation - teaming up and living with the people she had been trying to kill.
“Hey, where’s Hanmi?” Sehun finally asked when the four of them were paying at the cashier.
The four of them glanced around before Chanyeol snapped his fingers in realization. “She told me ten minutes ago that she was going to go help some kid find his Umma.”
“And you let her go off by herself?!” Tao exclaimed, face palming himself at his hyung’s stupidity. “In a place she doesn’t know?!”
Chanyeol stared at him for a few seconds. “…In my defense you all know I’m an idiot.”
The boys looked up to see the cashier looking at them with a worried expression. “Did you say that she went to help a child find his Umma?”
Chanyeol nodded. “Yeah, that’s what she said, anyways.”
The cashier’s face instantly paled. “You guys don’t come here often?”
The four of them shook their heads.
“Lately there’s been some reports going around of missing teenage girls. The people they’d be with would report that they had gone off to help a little boy or girl find their parents to never show up again. It’s been revealed that this is a current popular method for gangs to get their hands on girls to sell into the prostitution market.”
The second she finished her words, all four of them burst out of the shop without a single word said.
“Call Kai and D.O and tell them to find her!” Baekhyun called out. “Let’s split up, and Chanyeol, we’ll deal with you later.”
Chanyeol nodded with an expression of guilt and worry on his face before running down one side of the street with Tao while Sehun paired up with Baekhyun to go down the other.
“Kai!” Chanyeol shouted through the phone after finally getting a hold of Kai.
“What is it?” Kai sighed. “Is the little Princess tired already?”
“Kai, she’s been kidnapped!” Chanyeol exclaimed, searching wildly through the crowd as he ran. “It’s all my fault, Kai. Please, I know you don’t like her but help us find her!”
A few seconds of silence met his ears in response, and Chanyeol almost thought that Kai was going to reject.
“I’ll get the end of Myeongdong covered,” Kai growled before darting out of his seat to join the hunt, leaving behind a fresh cup of coffee.
“She just likes making trouble, doesn’t she?”
Behind Kisook’s turned back, a group of men came out from behind the buildings. You immediately zeroed in on the weapons they were equipped with, and pulled Kisook to your side. “Run to safety.”
“Yah, Noona! Are you stupid or what?” Kisook exclaimed, pulling his hand out of your grip before going to join the group of men. “Hyung! Did I do well?”
“YAH, BRAT! You were supposed to bring a whole pack of girls, not just one!” one of them growled, striking the boy to the ground. He was about to aim another punch at the child before you instantly shot in front of him, catching the fist before he could cause any damage.
The guy smirked before pulling his fist back out of your grip. “Hm, Kisook, I guess if you had to bring just one, she’d be the best choice.”
“Jiyon, catch!” one of the other guys called out as he threw a bunch of rope to the guy in front of you.
You immediately understood the situation that you were in. “So, you’re apart of those low life bastards that kidnap women after sending a harmless child their way, huh?” you growled. You knew all about this method because you had previously been on missions to take down these types of gangs. You mentally scolded yourself for falling for a method you knew all too well. You crackled your knuckles and let a smirk slide itself onto your face. “I guess it’s a good thing you found me then, I would love to kick the butt of bastards like you.”
“Feisty as well as being a beauty? I guess we’ll be having a fun time taming you, huh?” Jiyon grinned as he took a step towards you.
“I don’t think having your but beat is much fun, but hey, I’m not one to judge,” you shrugged. “A bit of a masochist, aren’t we, now?”
“You have quite a mouth, don’t you?” Jiyon twitched. “I’m sure it’ll be good at other things besides talking.”
“Oh, you have no idea,” you smirked. You shot towards him and wedged your fist nicely into his gut without even blinking an eye. “I’ll fulfill your fantasies, masochist.”
“Bitch,” he growled, coughing up blood before spitting it to the ground. “You can’t grasp the situation, can you? You’re obviously out numbered.”
“I’m outnumbered in people, but not in skill,” you shrugged in reply. “I have to say, you little lot of puppies sure are at a disadvantage here.”
Jiyon growled, and flicked his wrist to signal for the other men to come and attack you.
“I warned you,” you shrugged. As the circled you, you immediately fell to your feet to do a rotated 360 kick spin to knock each of them to the ground. You managed to knock two of them out cold with strong high kicks to the head before the others clambered back up to their feet again. “You guys are only going to end up like your little friends~” you said in a sing song voice, easily taking each of them down.
Only a few minutes passed, and already the only ones who were left still standing and conscious were you, Kisook, and Jiyon.
“So, what do you say masochist? Want to dance?” you smirked, eyeing his lack of muscle with an expression of amusement.
He stared at you as if you were a demon. You hadn’t even broken a sweat despite taking down 10 burly men just seconds prior.
“Yah, any day now,” you growled in annoyance. “Or I’ll be taking my leave.”
Jiyon took a step forward, but instantly cowered, knowing perfectly that he was definitely no match for you. You smirked before turning back around to go back to the shopping district. The others must be getting worried about you by now.
“Hyung, you’re just going to let her go?” Kisook asked. You heard a loud smack followed by a painful cry, and instantly whipped around to see Kisook on the floor clenching his stomach in pain. You growled, and began to make your way back to him with a clenched fist.
“Y-Yah! I said you were free to go!” Jihun exclaimed as he began to step backwards with fear when he saw you coming. You aimed one hard punch at his face, and he passed out before your fist even made contact.
“Coward,” you scoffed. You then crouched down to take a look at Kisook. “Yah, brat. Why are you mixed up with these kinds of people?”
Kisook glanced at you before climbing to his feet. He tried to run away, but you gave him a gently shove on the shoulder and he fell back to the ground again. You stuck one foot on top of him and pressed gently down to prevent him from going anywhere.
“I thought you were trying to save me!” Kisook exclaimed with a horrified expression.
“Yah, I’m not some saint,” you scoffed. “Now answer me brat, before I throw you into the ocean. You just witnessed what I was capable of doing, so I don’t believe I can let you go alive.”
Kisook’s eyes widened in fear and the rest of his body turned rigid.
“So tell me, what are you doing mixed up with bastards like them?” you asked again.
“They… They kidnapped my family,” Kisook began, tears beginning to form in his eyes.
“Save the tears, and tell me what the case really is,” you scoffed, putting more pressure on your leg.
“O-Okay!” Kisook squeaked. “I’m a runaway, and the guys found me starving on a street and offered me a place to stay. They gave me some food, and treated me well for a week before they started beating me. They said the only way to have it stop was if I was to do stuff like this for them,” Kisook shrugged. “Or they’d kill me.”
“A runway?” you scoffed. “What are you, like 6 years old? How long have you been working with them?”
“I’m actually 8,” Kisook replied, sticking out his tongue. “And I’ve only been doing this for a few days.”
You sighed and retracted your foot before pulling him up to his feet. “Runaway, huh? What’d your parents do to make you do that?”
“They… They don’t love me,” Kisook shrugged. “They only care about my older brother. They give him so much praise, and so many compliments, and so much and presents. They don’t say anything to me, they just ask why I can’t be more like him.”
“I see what you mean…”
“You do?!” Kisook asked with wide, hopeful eyes.
“No, I don’t, brat,” you scoffed, smacking him against the head with the back of your hand. “But you’re an idiot.”
You turned around and began walking back towards the shopping district. After a few seconds of walking, you turned back around to see him slowly making his way in the other direction. “Yah, brat! Come here, I’ll treat you to some ice cream.”
Kisook immediately spun around and ran your way. He realized how stupid he must have looked, and stopped abruptly a few feet away from you. “Why are you helping me?”
“You’re a troubled kid,” you shrugged in response. “I know how it feels. So follow along before I change my mind to help you.”
Kisook immediately nodded and ran to your side. You felt a hand hold onto the side of your shirt, and you forced yourself to hold in a smile. When you reached the shopping area again, you frowned. How would you find the EXO members?
Shrugging, you guided Kisook to an ice cream cart, ignoring the strange looks you received. “Yah Kisook, I feel generous today, so pick as much as you want, okay?” you smiled at the boy, ruffling his hair up.
Kisook’s eyes widened at your words and he quickly nodded before pointing out all the flavors he wanted to the ice cream ahjusshi.
When the two of you received your trays of ice creams – your bowl consisting of 2 scoops while Kisook’s consisted of 12 – the two of you sat in a dining area around the little shop.
“Where are you going to go after this, brat?” you asked, taking a bite of your ice cream. Your heart clenched at the familiar taste. Every time you had eaten ice cream prior to that moment had always been with Hyunseok or Minhwa.
Kisook shrugged. “I guess I’ll go find out another gang. It’s not that bad doing this kind of stuff. They give me treats when I bring in a lot of Noonas.”
“Yah! Didn’t you learn your lesson from just now?!” you scolded, smacking him gently against the head. “Why don’t you go home?”
“I won’t go home. No matter what,” Kisook replied right away with a hardened expression.
“Your parents probably miss you,” you continued, observing the younger boy’s expression.
“Don’t make me laugh,” Kisook scoffed in reply, but you could see the sadness in his eyes.
“I guess that settles it, then,” you shrugged.
“Settles what?” Kisook asked with a confused expression.
You pointed a finger at yourself. “Me. You can come live with me.”
Kisook’s jaw dropped open, and before he could respond, a loud shout of “Hanmi!” snapped your attention.
You turned away from Kisook to see Kai starring at you with an angry expression and heavy pants.
Kai marched over to you and grabbed the spoon from your hand before slamming it down on the table. He grabbed you by the shoulders and forced you to turn to him. “BAK HANMI! YOU ARE THE STUPIDEST GODDAMN –”
“Stay away from my Noona!” Kisook exclaimed, knocking away Kai’s arms. He ran in front of you and stood as a divisor between you and Kai with outstretched arms. “Don’t hurt her, or I’ll hurt you!”
Your jaw dropped at the boy’s action, and your heart swooned at the amount of cuteness the boy was emitting.
You were definitely going to manage to persuade EXO to let him stay with you.
