Summary: Bak Hanmi had been raised since birth to become one of the top assassins, and was given the mission to seek and destroy 12 threats that possess special abilities. When the people she loves most are hurt, however, she finds herself abandoning her assassin lifestyle only to end up in an unexpected situation - teaming up and living with the people she had been trying to kill.
Night had fallen, and you had exchanged your good-nights with the rest of the boys before departing into the safety confines of Suho’s room. You laid yourself on the bed and stared slightly at the backpack in front of you. This was the moment you were waiting for, yet wanted to postpone. What exactly would be in the confines of the two blue envelopes you had seen slip out when Kai had tossed out the items inside?
Would you hate yourself after this?
You took a deep breath and slowly withdrew the contents of the bag. There was only one way to find out. One by one you picked up the single Polaroid photos, and you smiled to yourself, wondering when on earth they had managed to take those without you looking. Your eyes widened in surprise when you saw a tear drop to his Minhwa’s face, and you rubbed your eyes to erase the tears you didn’t even know had formed.
After carefully inspecting each and every picture, looking over them more than 10 times each, you finally fingered the two blue envelopes carefully. Each one said “Minhwa Oppa” and “Hyunseok Oppa” respectively. You placed Hyunseok’s down, and decided to read Minhwa’s first. Minhwa was always more of the practical kind, so you were sure to get more information than the love messages Hyunseok had probably written you.
You slowly, slid your fingers through the crease to cleanly open the envelope before withdrawing a single piece of paper. You took a deep breath before you began to unfold the piece of paper. Stay strong, Hanmi, you reminded yourself.
To my lovely Dongsaeng, Hanmi.
Hanmi, I know you must be sad right now, no, you must be more than sad. Please, stop blaming yourself. I just know that BAP must have said something last night to get your insides chewing on with guilt.
The truth is, Hyunseok and I both knew that we would have to die the minute we met you. You see Hanmi, for the three years we were with you, we were on a mission as well – to make sure that you wouldn’t become the perfect little spy for M.A.M.A. Hyunseok and I both serve as undercover assassins from a group called the “Two Moons” and our mission was to make sure that M.A.M.A could never create the perfect assassin – you. The way to destroy that was to make you feel. Emotions. Love for us, your Oppas, guilt for the innocent, hatred for BAP. Didn’t you ever find it suspicious that two grown teenagers were transferring to an underground government that only accepted people they had trained since birth?
What Hyunseok and I didn’t expect, however, Hanmi, was that we’d fall in love with you on our mission. You became a true dongsaeng to us, and we hope that we became true Oppas to you. Even if the purpose of our presence was because of a mission, we truly stayed because of you. I would go more into how much we care about you, but I’m sure Hyunseok’s going to do all of that in his letter without explaining a single thing to you. Therefore, being the more sensible Oppa, I’m going to steal room on his paper while I explain to you what’s going on, on mine.
The Boss ended up discovering the little mission of Hyunseok and I’s, but instead of killing us off on the spot, he decided to take us up on it. He had so much trust in you, that he didn’t believe a couple of teenagers could change his star assassin – to actually make her feel something. Judging by the fact that we’re being forced to write these letters as our last words to you, he was wrong.
If you’re still with BAP and M.A.M.A, please Hanmi, escape while you can. All those dreams I’ve had about the three of us escaping together, you can make it come true. Live your freedom for the three of us. Hopefully, you’ve done what both Hyunseok and I am hoping for and have already fled their binds as you’re reading this letter. The next thing you need to do is find EXO, the group of people we were assigned to kill.
I know this sounds funny and sketchy, Hanmi, but you need to protect them. M.A.M.A isn’t at all an underground government set for the goodness of people. They’re made up of cruel souls who thirst for power. The boys of EXO are the only ones who have the ability to stop M.A.M.A in their tracks – that’s what they were made for. Although I cannot explain why the members of EXO exist, or where the powers had come from, I assure you that you will find out all in due time. Please, trust us.
Find EXO and protect them. I hate to say this, but protect them with your life if the situation calls for it. M.A.M.A definitely will be coming after you, so you must be prepared and on guard at all times. Trust Two Moons when they appear. You must be confused, but everything will clear itself up soon.
We’ll always be watching over and protecting you from above.
You placed the paper down in your lap as you tried to wrap your head around everything Minhwa had just revealed in the letter. You had been their mission? You had simply been a mission to them?
Tears of anger formed in your eyes, and you were a bit rash to tear open the next letter and read the contents of Hyunseok’s letter.
To my Precious Baby Girl.
You must be angry. 1) Because you feel as if we’ve abandoned you, and 2) Because you probably read Minhwa’s letter before mine. All this means is that I don’t have to waste my room explaining to you what happened, and simply fill this with my love.
We love you. Since the moment we saw you sitting by yourself eating your lunch, Minhwa and I both instantly fell in love with you – in the Oppa/Dongsaeng type of way, of course. Don’t you dare for one second think that the only reason we were with you was because of our mission.
Although we did first approach you with solely our mission in mind, you slowly transformed us into different people, Hanmi. Your smiles and laughter and jokes, you were the closest thing Minhwa and I had to family. To happiness. Please don’t cry and think that we didn’t love you, because that would be the biggest lie in the world.
We’ve only spent 3 short years together, but in this brief time span I’ve never loved anyone as much as I love you. You were the blessing in both of the lives of your previous Oppas. This letter is starting to get cheesy, and Minhwa Hyung’s probably going to smack me against the head when he reads this.
With us gone, you still have to maintain that bright smile of yours, okay? Nothing saddens us more then the thought that your smile might disappear with us, so please don’t make our fears a reality. I know you’re trying to be brave and tough right now, but for today, you can cry, okay? You can let out all your tears concerning your Oppas out, and let them all wash away forever. We want nothing more than your happiness.
As Minhwa’s letter must say, he’s already told you to protect the EXO members, and yada yada, but there’s something I want you to do, okay? Your own personal mission. I want you to fall in love. Whether it be with the EXO members, or somebody different entirely. After meeting you, Minhwa and I didn’t only want to teach you emotions just to fulfill our mission, it was because we didn’t want you to turn out to be someone who wouldn’t enjoy life. A life without emotions is meaningless, and our biggest pride in life isn’t the number of our body count, it’s the fact that we taught you how to feel. The EXO members are all good guys, although they may have their flaws. Minhwa and I have monitored them years before we were assigned this mission, so we all know them very well. Well enough to know that Kai must be giving you a hell of a hard time right now, so don’t hesitate to punch him in the face. Sehun will probably have fallen for you by now, but I would actually want you to end up with Baekh
Ignore everything your other idiot Oppa just said above. Don’t you dare fall in love with any jerks. Men are all pigs, and they aren’t deserving of your love. Hanmi-ah, your Minhwa Oppa cares about you very much. I may not show it as easily as Hyunseok, but you really do have no idea how much I care for you. I hope you won’t shed any more tears after this.
Minhwa was being a hog and took up my space! You should go kick at his grave or something for me, baby girl. And don’t listen to what he said. I want you to be a normal girl and fall in love, and make friends, and gossip about boys with other girls. That’s my greatest wish for you.
Love, your most favorite Oppa in the world, Hyunseok. MINHWA
P.S. I hope you kill BAP with no mercy. Maybe a little mercy on Daehyun, but only a little.
You chuckled at the foolishness of the letter, but tears had already been streaming down your face since you began with the first word.
“Idiot Oppas,” you murmured under your breath, you stared at both of the letters in your hand, and let out a choked sob when you pictured the two of them. You slowly rose and made your way to the window so you could escape to some place to cry loudly without disturbing the others.
“You don’t have to do that,” a voice said suddenly.
You whipped around to see Baekhyun in the room silently closing the door behind him. “They knew you would search through the bag tonight, so they all went downstairs to watch an action movie. You can cry as loud as you want.”
You shook your head and immediately rubbed at your eyes. “N-No, I’m sorry you guys had to do that, I didn’t mean to—”
Baekhyun gave a quick tug to your hand, and you felt yourself press against Baekhyun’s chest. “Don’t say anything. Just cry.”
You opened your mouth to say something, but a choked up sob was released instead. Your fingers clenched the fabric of the shirt on Baekhyun’s shirt, and you felt your tears dampen Baekhyun’s chest. He didn’t seem to mind, however, and continued to stroke your back gently, singly a lullaby softly under his breath.
He sounded like Hyunseok did when he was trying to calm you back to sleep after a nightmare. The memory only made you choke up even more, and you sobbed even harder into Baekhyun’s shirt, allowing you to feel the embarssment of the whole thing tomorrow.
Like Hyunseok had written in his letter, just for tonight.
Just for tonight, you would cry.
